Ca the ewes Chorus Ca the ewes, tae the knowes Ca them whaur the burnie rows Ca’ them where the heather grows My bonnie dearie Hark the mavis evening sang, Sounding cludens woods amang Then a fauldin’, let us gang My bonnie dearie We’ll gae doon by cludens side Through the hazels spreadin’ wide Oe’er the waves that sweetly glide Tae the moon sae clearly Yonder cludens silent towers While at moonshine, midnight hours Ower the dewy bendin’ flow’rs Faeries dance sae cheery Gaist nor bogle shal’t thou fear Thou art to heaven and love sae dear Nocht of ill shall cam’ thee near My bonnie dearie Fair and lovely as thou art Thou hast stow’n my very heart I can die, But canna part My bonnie dearie (additional verse) While waters wimple to the sea While day breaks in the lift sae hie Till clay cauld death shall blin’ my e’e Yie shall be my dearie.

about

Multi-instrumentalist & composer Conrad Molleson returns to centre stage, with Burnout, a collection of traditional songs, rearranged with an entirely new take on the bard. Although the songs were written a couple of centuries back, we’ve done our best bring them up to date on these recordings, mixing Afro-Latin rhythms with a subtle nod to Brazilian bossa nova, adding a global twist and bringing a blast of freshness to these timeless and much-loved songs.
